Into the Heart of the Amazon
Your adventure begins with a scenic flight from Quito to the Amazonian town of Coca, where you’ll board a motorized canoe that glides down the Napo River, offering your first glimpse into the vast rainforest wilderness. Upon arrival at Sacha Lodge, nestled deep in the jungle, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at La Balsa Restaurant, followed by a warm welcome briefing from your guides. In the afternoon, set out on your first exploration of the reserve — an introduction to the magic and mystery of the Amazon. As the sun dips below the canopy, enjoy a handcrafted welcome cocktail before settling into a refined à la carte dinner at the Oropendola Restaurant.
Immersive Rainforest Exploration
Wake to the sounds of tropical birds and howler monkeys, and start your day with a hearty breakfast at La Balsa. The morning brings a guided adventure, perhaps a canopy walk high above the forest floor or a silent canoe exploration, gliding through mirror-like waters teeming with wildlife. After lunch back at La Balsa, continue your discovery with an afternoon activity tailored to your interests, from birdwatching to forest hikes. As night falls, enjoy another exquisite dinner at Oropendola Restaurant before heading out for a guided nocturnal excursion to experience the rainforest’s mysterious after-dark life.
Deeper into the Amazon
After another nourishing breakfast, venture even deeper into the reserve’s biodiversity. This day might include visiting the Yasuní clay licks, spotting rare primates, or exploring hidden trails led by expert naturalists. Return for a refreshing lunch before another afternoon of wildlife-rich exploration. As twilight descends, dinner awaits, followed once more by an optional night walk or canoe ride—the jungle never sleeps and neither does its wonder.
From Jungle to Highlands
Enjoy a final breakfast at La Balsa Restaurant before beginning your return journey by river and air from Sacha Lodge to Coca, and onward to Quito. But your adventure continues—from the airport, a private local guide welcomes you and accompanies you by road into the Northern Andes. Together, you’ll visit the Quitsato Solar Museum on the equator and a rose showroom showcasing Ecuador’s world-famous blooms before stopping for lunch in Cayambe. Your guide remains with you throughout your stay, bringing context and local insight to every stop.
Culture & Nature of the Northern Andes
Begin the day with breakfast at Hacienda Pimán, then travel to a viewpoint known for sightings of the elusive Andean spectacled bear. Continue to the vibrant Pimampiro Traditional Market, where you’ll witness the rhythm of local life. After lunch, enjoy a half-day adventure—either a guided trekking experience or an e-bike tour on scenic trails. Back at Hacienda Pimán, relax at leisure, perhaps visiting the Butterfly House, enjoying the gardens, or indulging once again in the spa’s pools and sauna before dinner.
Lakes, Markets & Condors
Fuel up with breakfast before departing for a scenic walk around the volcanic crater lake of Cuicocha. The journey continues to Otavalo, home to one of Latin America’s most renowned indigenous craft markets. After lunch at Cabañas del Lago, visit a conservation project devoted to the majestic Andean condor. A final stop at Zuleta community introduces you to exquisite embroidery workshops, where tradition and art intertwine. From there, return to Quito with unforgettable memories of Ecuador’s rainforest and highlands, a journey of wild beauty and rich culture.
